Gastonia – Sarah Phillips McAbee, 92, passed away on December 4, 2021, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Gaston County on December 14, 1928, to the late Henry and Verna Roseberry Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jerold Aubrey McAbee.
Sarah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed! She was a member of Maylo United Methodist Church. Sarah was previously co-owner with her husband at City Cab, Pine Grove Service Station, and Industrial Metal Craft. Sarah enjoyed gardening and had quite the "green thumb" she loved working outdoors and was not afraid to work on any project! Sarah was very much a family woman. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and taking vacations with her family. She was the most loving, generous, and kind-hearted lady who would help anyone in their time of need.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Linda M. Rhyne (Mike); Jackie M. Davis (Roger) and Cheryl M. Cottingham (Bill); grandchildren, Cindy Stewart, Justin Cottingham (Allison); Christy Isenhour (Jason); Tyler Milstead, (Steven); Kelsey Davis and Aubree Davis; great-grandchildren, Chance, Sailor, Ryder, Zane, Hanna, Charlie, and Avett; sisters, Joyce Paysour and Faye Wright.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 8th at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves. Visitation following the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Mike Rhyne, Roger Davis, Bill Cottingham, Justin Cottingham, Jason Isenhour, and Troy Phillips. Honorary Pallbearer will be Chance Cottingham.
