Sheila Lawing Burnette

Sheila Lawing Burnette, a beloved member of her community, passed away on September 8, 2023, at Atrium Health-Main in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Sheila was born on August 15, 1948 in Gaston County to the late David  and Beuna "Dimp" Lawing.

During her career, Sheila devoted many years to working at Edgecomb Metals and Namsco Supply. She was known for her dedication and hard work, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked with.

Outside of work, Sheila found joy in various aspects of her life. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was an active member of her church community. Spending time with family brought her immense happiness, especially her cherished grandchildren, Stella and Molly Fore. Sheila treasured these moments dearly.

In addition to enjoying quality time with her loved ones, Sheila had a special bond with her best friend Deborah Tinker. The two were inseparable companions who shared countless memories together. Their daily routine included embarking on four-mile walks—a testament to their commitment to each other's company and well-being.

Sheila had a passion for shopping, and it was during these outings that she often found herself accompanied by Deborah Tinker. Their adventures through stores and boutiques added spice to their friendship and created unforgettable experiences.

Throughout her life, Sheila's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her daughters and granddaughters. April Fore and Melissa Barnhill were blessed to call Sheila their mother, while Stella and Molly Fore had the privilege of being raised by such a loving grandmother.

Sheila's family played an essential role in shaping the person she became. She cherished the memories she created with them over the years and held a deep affection for each member. Sheila is survived by her husband of over 20 years, Will Burnette; daughters April Fore and husband, Ryan and her girls, Stella and Molly and Melissa Barnhill; step-children Amy Burnette, Devin Mauney and husband Jeff, and their son Sam Mauney; her brother Reverend Dale Lawing and wife Peggy, Doug Lawing and wife Rita; sisters Gale Coley and husband Jackson, Davie Ann Lancaster and husband Ronnie; her lifetime best friend Deborah Tinker; as well as many nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have experienced Sheila's love.

Sheila  will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to family, and her treasured friendships. Her genuine kindness touched the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Sheila's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, serving as a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
