Gastonia – Shirley Anne Leonard Childers, 84 passed away on December 9, 2020 at Alexandria Place, Gastonia.
She was born in Vance County, NC to the late George and Vangilee Poole Leonard; she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Charles Vance Childers, Sr.
Shirley was a charter member of Maranatha Temple Church of God. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She always cared more for others before herself. She worked at Caldwell Drug Store for many years. While living at Alexandria Place, she was very social and involved with everything. She enjoyed the seven years she lived there.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you the staff for all their love and care for Shirley.
Shirley is survived by her loving family, Charles Vance Childers, Jr. and wife Terrie; Lisa Brown and husband Alan; grandchildren, Candi and husband Michael Mullinax; Joshua and wife Kimberly Childers; Jeremiah and wife Amber Childers; and Nicholas Brown; great grandchildren Dalton and Clinton Wells, Sladen Mullinax and Lilly Childers; brother, Lewis and wife Brenda Leonard; sisters, Ramona Price-Heeter, Kay Leonard, Sonda Leonard and Sabra Leonard-Kennedy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Interment will be Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery Gastonia.
