Dallas – Shirley Christine Cloninger Edison, 74, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Gaston County on November 25, 1946, to the late Earl and Helen Thornburg Cloninger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Robert Heavner, and Stephen Green.

Shirley retired as a Lab Tech with Carolina Mills after many years of dedicated service and later worked as a Caregiver. Shirley was the kindest and caring soul. She loved her family and spending time with her granddaughters. Shirley loved going to see her granddaughter, Payton play in soccer games. She was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church and was very active for many years. Shirley loved her church and her church family and friends. She enjoyed cross-stitching, crafts, shopping, and playing bingo (especially winning). Shirley was a loving mother, Nana, sister, and friend to many.

Survivors include her sons, Christopher Edison and wife Wendi of Kings Mountain, NC and Brian Edison of Dallas, NC; her granddaughters whom she adored, Payton and Amelia; her brother, Roger Cloninger and wife Sherry; sisters, Judy Hoffman, Janice Green and Patricia Heavner; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 21st at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church prior to the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Fain Farmer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 5306 Dallas Cherryville Hwy., Bessemer City, NC 28016
