Shirley Jean Stegall

Mount Holly – Shirley Jean Stegall, 76, passed away on February 26, 2023.

Shirley was born in Mecklenburg County on October 4, 1946 to the late David Archie Merritt, Sr. and Ida Mae Merritt. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Patric Martin and her son-in-law, Lee McKee.

Shirley loved to dance and spend time at home watching true crime shows. Most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She leaves many happy memories to be cherished by her family and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Jodie Kelly (Robert) and Ramona McKee; brothers, David Merritt, Gary Merritt, and Bill Merritt (Laura); sister, Peggy McDonald (Mack); grandchildren, Heather Montgomery, Monica Martin, Michael Stegall , George McKee, III, and Ashley McKee; and her great-grandchildren, Dylan Martin, Cam Montgomery, Kylee Montgomery, and Levi Montgomery.

The family will receive friends Sunday March 5, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. followed by the Rite of Christian Burial in the Withers and Whisenant Chapel.
