Shirley Anne Watts

Shirley Anne Price Watts, 82, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025 at her son’s residence with her family by her side.

She was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, on April 30, 1943 to the late Floyd and Ethel Price. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Joe Watts; and brother, Eugene Price.

Shirley spent her early years working in hosiery mills and later working as a CNA for Holy Angels. There she cared for the residents and would bring them home with her for holidays to spend time with her family where she would treat them as her own. She was a caring person and her home at Mercy Place was more than just her home, it was where her neighbors were her extended family, and they would plan many trips and take cruises together. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was also known for her baking, especially her pound cakes and million-dollar pies. She leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Lynn Warren and Jamie Hyde (Sue); grandchildren, Katie Sutton (Matthew), Amanda Moore (Ryan), Lane Hyde (Caitlin), Shelby Hyde; great-grandchildren, Walter Moore, Orlah Sutton, Fergus Sutton, and Elliot Moore.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Charles Keller and her grandson, Lane Hyde, officiating. The family will gather for a private graveside following the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont.

Memorials may be made to Holy Angels in honor of Mrs. Watts.
