Sidney Eugene Hamilton

Bessemer City – Sidney Eugene Hamilton, 78, passed away suddenly on May 16, 2022, at his residence.

He was born in Rockingham, (Richmond) North Carolina on April 10, 1944 to the late Worth Alexander Hamilton, Sr. and Grace Collins Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Hamilton.

Sidney was a graduate of Ashley High school and a graduate of Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio.
He was a very talented pianist and organist. He played in the Charlotte Symphony during the 70's and 80's. Sidney played the piano at First Presbyterian Church, Bessemer City, for many years; and enjoyed classical music. Sidney served in the Army Reserve.

Left to cherish Sidney's memories is his sister, Linda H Campbell (Mike), brothers, Michael Terry Hamilton (Kay), Worth A. Hamilton Jr. (Betty), Luke H. Hamilton (Terry); nine nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2022 for 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 4:00 in the Chapel with Rev. Dr. Kelly Hamilton officiating. Interment will be 11:00 am Friday August 19, 2022 at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City with Pastor Mike Criswell officiating.
