Dwain Sidney Wellman, a beloved family man and retired sales professional, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Belmont. He was born on November 8, 1946, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Sidney had an extraordinary career working at Web-Don, Inc. and was well-respected among his colleagues and clients. However, it was his role as a devoted father that truly defined him. He took immense pleasure in coaching his two boys in sports and instilling in them the values of teamwork and dedication.

Throughout his life, Sidney's family was always his priority. He treasured the moments spent together with loved ones, cherishing every laugh shared and every story told. His ability to bring people together was captivating, and his warm presence brightened even the darkest of days.
Beyond his devotion to family and work, Sidney proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during his younger years and Vietnam. This experience shaped him into a resilient individual, instilling discipline and a strong sense of duty that carried him throughout his life.
In his free time, Sidney immersed himself in coaching his kids. Whether it was teaching them how to throw a baseball, kick a soccer ball or providing guidance on their athletic journeys, he reveled in their successes and supported them wholeheartedly. His love for sports manifested not only in cheering from the sidelines but also in imparting valuable life lessons through competition.

Sidney is survived by his two loving sons: Sid Wellman, and Kevin Wellman and wife Kristin. His fiancée Mary “Peachie” Boyd and her children and grandchildren Their presence in his life brought him immeasurable joy and a sense of purpose that cannot be described in words. He is also survived by his dear brother Sherman Wellman and wife JoAnn, sister Gail Hedgepeth and husband Larry.
