Stanton Austin Davis, 85, died in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday, December 13th at Mount Royal Towers. He was born in Banks County, Georgia on April 3, 1935 to the late Rufus Clinton and Effie Westbrook Davis. Stanton grew up in Gastonia, NC, before joining the United States Army.
For more than 30 years, he worked for Wix Filters in various roles, with his last role as Regional Sales Manager. He enjoyed dancing and was a member of Beach Shaggers of Birmingham.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Coy Rufus Davis; and four sisters, Neddie Davis Ward, Quillie Davis Cloninger, Lou Davis Queen and Ann Davis Snider.
Stanton is survived by his son, Stanton Austin Davis, Jr. and grandson Garrett of Birmingham, Alabama; son, Gregory Scott Davis (Cathy) and grandsons, Blaine and Anthony of Orlando, Florida, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 11:40 a.m., Saturday, December 19th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054. Stanton will be laid to rest in a private burial at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, NC.
