Susan Carter Ferguson

Susan “Susie” Carter Ferguson, 75, of Dallas, NC, passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gaston County, NC on June 19, 1949 to the late Willis and Jean Anne Carter.

Susie earned a Psychology degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and later completed an Accounting degree at Belmont Abbey College. After becoming a Certified Public Accountant, her career continued at Piedmont Natural Gas Company. There, she excelled in her profession, ultimately becoming the Director of Internal Auditing. Susie remained there until she retired, earning respect for her diligence and leadership along the way.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Susie found her deepest fulfillment in her roles as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was being “Mimi” to her beloved granddaughters, Lauren and Madison Falls. She cherished every moment spent with them and held their love close to her heart.

Susie shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her high school sweetheart, Jim Ferguson. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Susie had a natural talent for decorating, and she poured her creativity into every corner of her home, inside and out. The countless plants and flowers that lined her yard were proof of her passion for gardening. She also loved traveling, especially family trips to the beach and mountains. Her favorite moments were often spent reminiscing and laughing with family, reliving cherished memories and creating new ones. As a lifelong member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Susie remained deeply rooted in her faith, drawing strength from it - and from her family – even as she faced the challenges of Parkinson’s disease in her later years.

In addition to her husband, Susie is survived by her daughter, Michele Falls and husband Jeremy Falls; grandchildren, Lauren and Madison Falls; brothers, Dan Carter and wife, Elaine, Greg Carter and wife, Beth; sisters-in law, Ruth Ferguson and Mary Ferguson; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, George Carter.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 26th, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 103 West Church St, Dallas with Reverend David Drysdale officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will take place at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Communion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 597, Dallas, NC 28034.
