Sylvia Jean Rhyne

Sylvia Jean Rhyne, 87, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025 at her residence in Gastonia, with her beloved family by her side.

She was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina, on July 11, 1937 to the late Norris and Mary Foster. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Brown; and siblings, Reggie Foster, Pat Lawson, Danny Usery, and Martha Herron.

Sylvia was a dedicated member of Riverside Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was a faithful woman who loved her church family. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family and made many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Donald George Rhyne; siblings, Lois Love, Becky Williams, Marcene Jones, and Debbie Lineburger; grandchildren, Leo Bailey, Melanie Blackwelder, John Brown, Chasity Cook; great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Chloe, Lainie, Cooper, Kasidy, Rylee, Amanda, and Tonya.

A memorial service at Riverside Baptist Church in Cramerton, North Carolina, will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025, with Pastor Steve Hicks Officiating.
