Dallas – Thomas Edward "Tommy" Rogers, 75, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021 at his residence.
He was a native of Gaston County, born on July 10, 1946 to the late Lewis and Lucille Strader Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny and Robert Rogers.
Tommy retired from Duke Power after 40 years of dedicated service as a crane operator. He served in the North Carolina Air National Guard. He was a member of Hardin Baptist Church. Tommy was an avid golf player and enjoyed fishing and working on his tractor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Left to cherish his memories includes his wife of 53 years, Elaine Messer Rogers; his daughter, Leslie Best and husband Randy; his wonderful grandchildren, Randi and Sydney; sister, Sandy Perkins and husband Mike and their daughter, Brittany.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 27th at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Fain Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 2101 Rexford Rd #165W, Charlotte, NC 28211.
