Travis Bell

Daniel Travis Bell, 60 years old, went home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2022. He stepped into eternity surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born on July 23, 1962 to Blake Junior Bell and Edna A. Bell.

 

He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Janice Armstrong Bell, two daughters Melissa Bell Varnadore, son-in-law Cameron Varnadore, and Deanna Bell Parr, son-in-law Jonathan Parr,  two grandchildren: Jaxson Varnadore and Blakeleigh Parr. Brother Wayne Bell, sister-in-law Gail Bell, two nephews Darren Bell (Joanne) and Clint Bell (Allison). Two great nephews Blake Bell and Daniel Bell (Lily), and one great niece Natalie Bell, as well as Motocross family, MDA family, FCA family, and numerous children and young adults that he mentored throughout his life.

 

Travis was a retired captain for the city of Gastonia Fire Department where he faithfully served his community for 30 years. He was awarded outstanding young firefighter in 1986. He received a medal of valor and a star of merit from the city of Gastonia Fire Department.

 

He volunteered as a camp counselor with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for seventeen years. He was a Channel 9 Who Cares award recipient for his volunteer work with MDA.

 

He ran sound system for church services for Sandy Plains Baptist Church and First Freewill Baptist Church. He was a Sunday School teacher and member of Midway Baptist Church.

 

He was a camp counselor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes motocross camp for two years. He loved motocross and raced his bike for fifty years. He supported and raced many events with Victory Sports Racing for over twenty years. He started Racing 4 One Ministries and led worship services for youth and adults through Victory Sports Racing.

 

He loved music. Listening to his wife and daughters sing was his pride and joy. He loved fishing trips with his brother, yearly trips to Fontana Lake, and family beach trips.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 14th at Midway Baptist Church, 12984 Hwy 55 W, York, SC  29745. A Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15th at Midway Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Dellinger and Pastor Richard Brown officiating.  Pallbearers will be Cameron Varnadore, William Wilson, Jonathan Parr, Wayne Bell, Mike Sheppard and Gary Withers.
