With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Verlene Wright Suttles, she passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, following an illness. Verlene is survived by her devoted husband of over 45 years, Charles Suttles, who stood by her side through every joy and challenge. Together, they built a life founded on love and mutual respect, traits that Verlene extended to all those who knew her. She leaves behind her cherished children: her son, Kenneth Earl Wright, and her daughter, Rhonda Wright Pawlik, along with her son-in-law, James. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Lauren Swiger and her spouse Daniel; Chase Suttles and his spouse Shelby; Jacob Pawlik and his spouse JoAnna; Leah Kane and her spouse Cam; and Jordan Pawlik and spouse Cameron. The next generation of great-grandchildren—Molly Swiger, Amelia Pawlik, Max Swiger, and Scottie Swiger—brought her tremendous joy and happiness. Verlene’s nurturing spirit will live on in the hearts and futures of these grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verlene is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Watts, as well as many wonderful friends, nieces and nephews who valued her loyalty, warmth, and gentle wisdom. These relationships were among her greatest treasures.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Irene Daves; her daughter-in-law, Susan Wright; and her sisters, Delores Bridges and Glenda Beaver.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church, and was attending Parkwood Baptist Church for many years.
While family, kindness, and connection were the hallmarks of Verlene’s life, her energy and powerful spirit made her a force to be reckoned with. Verlene was a powerful woman who turned every challenge into a triumph. She had over 50 years of record-setting success in real-estate, she didn’t just top the market; she inspired a community with her vibrant spirit and legendary career.
