York, SC – William "Bill" Hampton Thompson, 87, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at his residence.
He was born in Heflin, Alabama on March 26, 1933 to the late Margaret Thomas and James Lee Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jody Lynn Thompson.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who loved him! Bill was a veteran of the US Navy and later retired from the Anniston Army Depot after many years of dedicated service.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Ann Powell Thompson; son, James Lee Thompson, III and wife Dawn; daughter, Joy Thompson Moore and husband Mark; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Lauretta Payne and Margaret Steed; and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
