William Ray Dean, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was born in Gaston County on January 26, 1935. He is the son of the late William Pruitt and Grace Russell Dean.
William is a member of Modena Baptist Church and retired from A&E Textile Company, Gastonia.
Left to cherish his memories include his son, William Ray Dean, Jr.; his daughter, Misty Wright; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
The family will receive family and friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with A Celebration of Life Graveside Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 in the Hope Section of Gaston Memorial Park with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 50 years, Donna Jane Mitchell Dean; two sons, Pat Dean, Jeff Dean; two sisters, Beulah Taylor, Doris Richards.
