Gastonia - William "Billy Ray" Rhyne, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Billy Ray was born in Gastonia on June 28, 1942 and is the son of the late William "Bill" Rhyne, Sr. and Gladys Viola Powell Rhyne.

Billy Ray was a graduate of Dallas High School and a 1964 Graduate of Lenior Rhyne, where he was a member of the Theta Ki Fraternity and served as treasurer from 1962-1964. He was co-owner and President of America Charters, LTD, past President of NC Motorcoach Association, a former member of the Gastonia Jaycees, and member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church.

Billy Ray was a loving son, husband, and father. He was a true friend to everyone who knew him and will be sincerely missed by so many.

Billy Ray is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Kay Holland Rhyne; son, Kristian Ray Rhyne and wife Leah; daughter Anneliese Lichtenstein and friend Tyler Phares; and two grandchildren, Max and Sophie Lichtenstein to whom started every conversation, "Pa Paw loves you."

Due to the COVID Pandemic, a Private Graveside Service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Gaston Memorial Park with Pastor Pete Feige officiating.
