Willie Leroy Ervin, Jr.

Lowell –  Willie Leroy Ervin, Jr., 89, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 2, 2022 with his loving family by his side.  Willie was born in Gaston County and is the son of the late Willie Leroy Ervin, Sr. and Gladys Ollis Ervin. 

Willie was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be truly missed by so many. He never met a stranger and he always had a smile on his face to show that he truly loved life and everyone he came into contact with during his wonderful life. 

Willie retired from Carolina Freight with a 39-year Perfect Safety and Driving Record.  He was a hard worker in everything and especially working in his yard.

Willie is a very active member of Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church, where he held many positions and he so enjoyed driving the Church Bus and the School Bus for Cramerton Christian Academy.  He also served with the North Carolina National Guard for 6 years.

Willie is survived by his loving wife of 71years, Bobbie Colleen Floyd Ervin; loving children,  Joy Owens, Ken  Ervin and Chris Ervin and their spouses; grandchildren, Matt and Fran Owens, Cindy and Todd Burton, Emily and Brad Frazier, Joseph Ervin, Courtney and Florian Fuchs, Scott Ervin and Ashley Frey; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Ann Lowery.   

The family will receive family and friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church, 426 Woodlawn Avenue, Cramerton with A Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Cramerton Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Baer, Kyle Brown and JoAnne Cox officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Owens, Joseph Ervin, Scott Ervin, Florian Fuchs, J. T. Hamrick, Danny Botts.

Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Michelle Ervin; 2 brothers, Gene Ervin, Ted Ervin.
